Through comparing and contrasting the attitudes held by midwives and the midwifery and medical communities towards the practice of midwifery, this paper demonstrates how there is a distinct difference within the current perceptions of midwifery in these two countries. This paper shows how the United States refuses to accept midwifery, while the United Kingdom has taken large steps to incorporate this practice into formalized child care.
